Principal's Message
I am Dr. Garth Oliver, the oldest of two boys. My brother Trace lives in Hallettsville. He came to visit me and really liked the town so much that he moved. My father, Ray, is deceased and my mother, Kay, lives four blocks from me in Schulenburg at College Place Assisted Living. My amazing wife is Monica Weber Oliver from Dickinson Texas. We have no children, but she loves our two dogs as though they were children.
I was born in Sweeny, Texas and lived there until I was seven. I then moved to southeast Missouri until I was twelve; and then moved back to Texas where I graduated from Bay City High School in 1981. I have also lived in Hawaii and South Carolina. Most of my forty something years have been in small towns, some larger and some smaller than Hallettsville so I am very comfortable here and I really enjoy my job.
This is an avocation for me and I have grown into the position of principal through being a high school teacher, a career and technology teacher, a university instructor at Clemson University and University of Houston, and a High School Assistant Principal in Houston. I have landed on a slice of heaven here in Hallettsville and I am proud to serve your children and this community. If there is anything I can do to assist your student in his/her education, you can count on me.
